CBD, CBN & CBG Explained

Customers are finding great relief with CBD, CBN and CBG products, but what are they and how do they help? Here's a little insight that may shed some light on the benefits of non-psychoactive cannabinoids.

CBD is the second most prevalent active ingredient in cannabis. Like other known compounds CBN and CBG, CBD does not carry any psychoactive effects. CBD is commonly used to relieve anxiety, depression, chronic pain and inflammation, among other ailments. At Tamarack, for patients that are actively working to treat chronic pain, we often recommend the use of THC and CBD in conjunction with one another, as they are known to be more effective when used together.

We are learning more every day about new compounds called CBN and CBG. CBN is a non-intoxicating compound created when THC ages. While current research on CBN is limited, early studies show it may be antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, helpful for treating insomnia and glaucoma, and may serve as a neuroprotectant and appetite stimulant. Many patients use CBN for help sleeping. At Tamarack, we generally recommend using CBN in conjunction with CBD, as the two tend to work best together.

CBG is often referred to as the mother of all cannabinoids, but is the rarest of them all, as well. CBG is typically used to fight severe anxiety, inflammation, chronic pain, nausea and to slow the proliferation of cancer cells. Research has shown it also is beneficial in treating glaucoma, inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn's disease, and cancer. Employees of Tamarack say they have found relief from chronic anxiety using CBG.
